Mark and his friends knocked down the wall between the kitchen and living room, creating a lovely open space for me to keep an eye on the kids. They also removed the one bleak light in the kitchen and replaced it with recess lighting. I’m grateful for the brightness everyday, especially living in the notorious gray PNW. I painted the cupboards and counters. We plan on replacing them someday, but this was a great option for the time being.
The Ceiling
Oh, the ceiling. We had this grand idea to help cover up the patches from changing to one kitchen light to recess lighting. Mark did an amazing job, but it was a frustrating job for him. I know he’s thrilled it’s over!
Closet to Pantry
This closet is right by our kitchen and we decided to change it to a pantry. It’s nice to have plenty of cupboard space for dishes and kitchen appliances and a separate space for food.
Dining area
I wish I had a before picture of this area. The lighting fixture was a fake crystal chandelier with a brass finish. Needless to say (but, I’m gonna say it anyway), it was not our style. I installed the current one and love it’s simplicity. Mark added the charming trim around the Arcadian door, and through out the house (I will posts those pictures too).
Finished Project…so far
I’m in love with this space. The bright colors make me happy every day.
